We will have the new group scheme CCC1, CCC2 and CCC3 arranged by Friday 23rd of October. visit Regular Rides for more info.

Does anyone know of a good bike shop in town? I blew out the front fork of my mountain bike and need to get it repaired. Or at the least I need to get some 5wt and 15 wt hydraulic fluid. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi there…..

    Interesting that I found u!

Well, I lived abroad for sometime … I always used my bike in my commute…. I am not like cyclist… but I love cycling.

Anyway, I thought it is dangerous to do the same in Egypt…. but today I decided I will do it … whatever it takes…. So I bought Outdoor bike… Gitane 600…. and all of the sudden I thought maybe someone would accompany me in my rides…. but I found that there is almost well established group out there.

So simply , do u still gather Fridays ? I would like to join , and I guess CCC3 would be good for me that to understand the roads in Egypt….. Guess what, I can not wait, I am almost going now to try my bike… but I think I should hold my horses :) )

    Thanks.,
    H.

    Hey,

Do u know where I can get touring bike shoes? something like Shimano SH-MT31 MTB ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Haithem

    • 12 Cool Rider April 5, 2010 at 1:28 pm

It depends on your use, if it is for fun rides on fridays then you don’t have to buy a shoe. As for where to buy I’d suggest positng this on the mail list and I’m sure someone would be able to guide you.

  7. 13 Haithem April 5, 2010 at 1:23 pm

    Sorry , Another question …

What I bought is a rather recreational hypired bike (Gitane outdoor 600)
    http://www.gitane.com/en/outdoor/Outdoor-600,178.html

I do not know if it was right choice…. or should I have bought a kind of road bike maybe with flat bar for more comfortable seating !!?

I would appriciate your answer, as I did not use the bike yet, so I maybe able to change it.

    Thanks,
    H.

    • 14 Cool Rider April 5, 2010 at 1:30 pm

Again this depends on your use.. almost all the guys in our group have road bikes for riding on the road on Fridays, or mountain bikes for riding in Wadi Degla on Saturdays.

  8. 15 Haithem Trabeek October 6, 2010 at 4:11 pm

    Guys,

Any rides soon, I can see that you did not have any activity since May this year…

I have been doing 40-60 KM every friday for the last 5 months, but I was doing it alone…. And now I would like to have a ride on a group… I am not sure if I really can make it the 125 KM ein sokhna or not… but I would love to give it a try.
Commenting on my questions in previous chat up(was in April 2010) , and I came very long way from there :) )) I actually bought another bike it is Tri bike. so it seems that I just love it :)

    Salam and waiting your reply.
    Haithem

    • 16 Cool Rider October 9, 2010 at 4:07 pm

      Haithem,
We ride every Friday. We meet by CAC, Maadi at 7am and start our 70 to 90km ride. You’re welcome to join us anytime.
The blogging talks more about events like traveling form Cairo to Sukhna or to Sinai, however regular rides goes on.

  9. 17 afrikanklammer December 22, 2010 at 7:46 pm

    Hi there

I’m a swiss guy who live in Cairo for 4 month (until march 2011). I like biking and I miss this activity here.
Cause I stay for a limited period, I don’t want to buy a bike here. But I would like to know if there is any kind of possibility to rent or to borrow a bike to participate to a ride on friday or for other discover by bike.

    Thanks for your information.

  11. 19 mostafa April 6, 2011 at 11:19 pm

are you still riding at the preseht or you stopped the activity ?

  12. 20 lindsmo July 29, 2011 at 7:06 am

    Hey,
I’m moving to Maadi in 3 weeks and would like to buy a good woman’s hybrid bike (looking for a TREK 7000 or something similar) shortly after the move. Any suggestions on where I can pick one up?

  13. 21 lindsmo August 28, 2011 at 7:11 pm

So I moved to Maadi and found a bike. I stopped by the CAC this past Friday at 7 but didn’t see anyone there. I kind of guessed that the group might be taking a break for Ramadan. I would really like to join some people to bike around. If anyone one has any information on when and where the next meet up would be I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you kindly, Lindsey

    • 22 Cool Rider August 28, 2011 at 8:58 pm

      Hi Lindsey,
Yes some people were off during Ramadan and during the summer vacation as well but mostly the people would meet up by 6:00 or 6:30 to avoid the heat. Next Friday, 2nd of September try to be there 6:30 and you will definitely meet up with the rest of the group.

      Regards,
      Yasser

      • 23 James August 30, 2011 at 1:59 am

I too am new to Cairo and would like to join you on the ride this Friday, September 2nd. If anything changes with the ride start time this Friday please pass it along. I have to make arrangements to get to the CAC, so don’t want to get there and no one be there.
I look forward to riding with the club and learn places I can ride to get my training in. I was training for Ironman Texas, but not sure that will happen now that my wife and I are relocating to Cairo. Thanks.

  14. 24 Kathryn September 17, 2011 at 12:13 pm

I moved to Cairo two weeks ago and expect my bike to arrive in about a month, so I am glad to see the rides are still going and the group is still active (especially after the revolution and new security considerations)!

James, I did IMFL in 2008 and for 2012 am looking at the Abu Dhabi International long course. The bike portion is about the same as the IM distance, so I would love a training buddy. This race is in March and I think IM Texas is also in the spring, right? I only raced Oly distances this past year, so I have a lot of work to do, but if you are interested, let me know – kafryn99(at)yahoo.com. I live in Doqqi, but my car should arrive at the same time as my bike, and I have two roof racks, so I’d be happy to drive to any take-off point. Depending on the day, heat and wind, my av. speed is 19-21 mph.

I’ll check back when my bike arrives and look forward to meeting everyone one Friday morning soon!

If anyone saw this message and have similar experiences in Egypt can give me some advises please. I am 39yrs, men. Usually I run my bike to Dokki to near Kattameiya golf club for 1 and half hour in weekend.

    Thank you.

hi there :) I am wondering if anyone here aware of a private triathlon trainer in Egypt who I can hire ??

  19. 29 Thomas April 9, 2012 at 3:41 pm

    Hi,

I will move in the month of May for about 3 years to Cairo and starting to get myself organized, and beside others looking for a road bike club.
Based on your homepage it looks like you have people who meet every Friday.
Since the last posting is a while ago, I am wondering if the club still exist.
If so is there a contact name, email or phone number with whom I can check the details?
